Carolina Mens Baseball League Plays All Star game the “Shark Tank”
On a perfect summer afternoon, Team Purple led by manager Brian Cardiero defeated the Golden Team managed by Ken Vafier. The game was notable for its sizzling defense. Dave Carpenter, playing leftfield went a long way to catch a blast off the bat of Jeff Navarro that was destined for extra bases. Ken Vafier snuffed a Purple rally when he went horizontal at shortstop to snag a lazer line drive with bases loaded. Centerfielders for both teams made highlight reel plays. Eric Irizarry made a diving catch and John Rhodes made an outstanding catch and registered a double play when his throw from left centerfield beat the runner at first who thought the ball was uncatchable. The day was also notable because it kicked off sign-ups for the Fall Season and the NEW 18+ Division. There was a good turnout and the fans went home to freshen up and prepare to return to the Shark Tank to see the Sharks do battle and watch the season’s final Fireworks display after the game.
